12/00796 Erection of a two storey rear extension and a side dormer roof extension (existing rear extension to be demolished) 2 Twitham Court Cottages, Twitham, Ash, Canterbury, CT3 2AP.  No objections – application first considered November 2012 where there were objections re overshadowing which had been addressed. GRANTED
13/00640 Outline application for the erection of 4 detached dwellings and construction of a vehicular access Land rear of 39 & 41, New Street, Ash, Sandwich, CT3 2BH  After a full discussion the Council had the following objections:-  the development is outside village confines and inside a conservation area; there would be a detrimental impact on the surrounding countryside as the site is elevated and visible from across the valley; there is a loss of amenity for adjacent cottages – privacy, quietness, rural outlook; there is overshadowing of adjacent properties and overdevelopment of site; there is inadequate access for this number of properties and they will contribute to additional traffic hazards for a narrow single lane road which is also a bus route.  REFUSED

August 5th meeting of the Parish Council
13/00384 Erection of a detached dwelling (existing utility room, garage and outbuildings to be demolished). 132 The Street, Ash, Sandwich, CT3 2AA.    No objections. REFUSED / APPEALED

July 1st meeting of the Parish Council
13/00327 Land Fronting, 92A The Street, Ash. Change of use and conversion to single residential dwelling, associated car parking and landscaping.  It was agreed that the Council would object on the following grounds: there is a bus stop across the street frontage to the access drive and so the increase in vehicle movements is likely to disproportionately cause a traffic hazard, made more problematic by the narrowing of the road. The current drainage serving the adjacent properties is not sufficient for modern usage and the increased volume of sewerage from an additional 3 bedroom property is a potential health risk which has not been addressed in the design statement. There is a parking issue for the property as the shared drive does have a weight restriction and so is not suitable for use for parking. GRANTED

June 3rd meeting of the Parish Council
13/00366 Lagaans, 60 The Street, Ash.  Erection of a detached dwelling and car port to include associated landscaping and car parking.  The matter of safe access onto the property from Queens Road was discussed.  It was agreed that the Council would ask for a Highways assessment on the site lines for safe access on and from Queen’s Road as there were concerns that vehicles entering Queen’s Road from The Street would not be able to see vehicles leaving this site. There were no other objections. GRANTED
13/00352 32 Glebelands, Ash.  Erection of a rear conservatory extension. No objections
13/00327 Land Fronting, 92A The Street, Ash. (This is a duplicate of the application submitted to Thanet District Council which also includes outline planning permission for the erection of a converter station building (max height 30.8 metres), substation building, (max height 15 metres), outdoor electrical equipment for substation (max height 12.7 metres) and converter station (max height 11.8 metres), and application for full planning permission for underground HVDC, fencing, landscaping and internal roads, since the majority of the site falls within the district of Thanet). 13/00202 – Erection of detached dwelling and construction of a vehicular access (existing utility room, garage and outbuildings to be demolished). 132 The Street, Ash, Sandwich.  It was agreed to object to this application as the proposed vehicle access to this and the adjoining property is immediately opposite the Sandwich Road / New Street junction and will cause a road hazard.  Secondly, the new building will overshadowed the adjoining property and garden at 2 White Post Gardens. It was noted that there appeared to be discrepancies between the design statement and the plans and it would be helpful for these to be clarified i.e. reference to designated home office space and storage space for bicycles.  WITHDRAWN
13/00227 – Variation of condition 2 of planning permission DOV/11/00989 to substitute design drawing for alterations to Glasshouse 2 (lower site).  Europa Nursery (2), Weddington Lane, Ash.  No objections.

January 7th meeting of the Parish Council
12/00953 – 34 Sandwich Road; Single storey extension to garage. The Council noted that this extension was beyond the building line but had no objections.GRANTED
12/00796 2 Twitham Cottages; Erection of a two storey rear extension and a side dormer roof extension (existing rear extension to be demolished). The Council objected on the grounds that the size of the extension overdeveloped the site and the position had a negative impact and overshadowed the adjacent properties.
12/00928 Wheatsheaf House, Cop Street, Ash; Erection of two storey side extension.  The Council noted that one side of extension was on the boundary of a right of way and that this should not be allowed to cause a permanent obstruction to the path; that the window overlooking the adjacent property should be of obscure glass, there were no objections.   GRANTED
